After receiving treatment, two of the five individuals with mpox disease confirmed by the Ministry of Health were allowed to leave.
Only three patients are presently receiving medication in a hospital, according to Mary Muthoni Muriuki, Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards.
“We anticipate the three patients recovering and returning to their families,” Muthoni stated on Saturday at Kirinyaga County’s ACK Kutus Church.
In an effort to stop the spread of mpox, the PS gave Kenyans the assurance that the ministry has increased screening and surveillance at entrance points.
Muthoni urged people to take precautions and avoid contact with those exhibiting symptoms of the illness.
“Make sure you keep yourself clean and always wash your hands. Also, make sure you do not share clothes or items like bath towels.”
The Ministry of Health is on high alert to stop the disease’s spread, the PS continued.
Muthoni said, “I’m asking you people to stay away from propaganda photos that are occasionally shared on social media.”
Five mpox cases have been confirmed in Kenya thus far; no deaths have been reported.
